BJM Playground Build

A resident of West Hill for over 10 years, I have been and continue to be deeply committed to the well-being of our community and city. Over the past decade I have served on the Boards of an array of organizations, with a broad range of objectives but largely focusing on community, youth and services.

In 2008 I was appointed by Mayor Peterson to serve as Commissioner on the City of Ithaca Board of Public Works (BPW), during which I participated in several significant BPW decisions pertaining to city management and infrastructure including (click on links for more information):

In addition, I served as BPW Liaison to the Parks Commission and the Bicycle Pedestrian Advisory Council, and on several working groups pertaining to City sidewalks, parking and fees.

Prior to serving on the BPW, I was Treasurer for the Beverly J. Martin Elementary School PTA for several years, and an organizer of the BJM Elementary School Playground Design and Re-Build for 2005-2007.  Subsequently, as PTA President, I assisted in arranging forums between ICSD, parents, NYSEG and the Department of Environmental Conservation to address issues and concerns regarding the environmental remediation of the neighboring block and the Markles Flats Building on the corner of Court and Plain Streets.  I have served on the board of directors of other non-profit community organizations such as UCNS, Inc., and I was a member of the founding board of directors of both the Cayuga Outrigger Canoe Club and the MOMs Club of Ithaca.

I currently serve as Secretary for GIAC – the Greater Ithaca Activities Center, Inc. Executive Board, on the Board of Directors of the Ithaca-Cayuga Kiwanis Club and member of the Tompkins County Workers Center.
